The work samples here are from the EDS204 course. This course is one of the culminating courses students take when they leave the graduate Teacher Credential/M.Ed. program. The course is designed to introduce pre-service teachers to professional assessment through a Teaching Portfolio.
This assignment is one of the capstone project of the course. Students asked to review the technology tools and supports that we introduced in the course. They create a classroom activity that makes use of one or more of the tools. They must take into consideration the learning objective of the activity, the California Content Standard being addressed, the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) student standards supported, and the SAMR level of the activity.
Creating a Professional Teaching Portfolio
Students will design a culminating digital professional portfolio, which they will be able to share with prospective employers, leaders within the greater educational community, and families of their students. Students will share drafts, obtain peer feedback and suggestions, and draw upon a variety of technology common in K-12 instruction to complete their portfolios.
Within the portfolio, students will showcase their beliefs, artifacts, and evidence of their teaching across specific themes:
Online Professional Presence,
Philosophy of Teaching,
Social Justice & Equity Practices,
Reflecting on Your Journey,
Using Research Informed Teaching Practices, and
Highlighting Professional Teaching Artifacts.
